Breast Ultrasound: An Introductory Course

This course is designed primarily for physicians who have little or no prior experience in diagnostic or interventional breast ultrasound. The course is ideal for breast fellows, young surgeons, and those who want to integrate breast ultrasound into their treatment of breast disease.  Participants will be exposed to basic ultrasound physics, scanning techniques, and interpreting the characteristics of benign versus malignant focal breast lesions. In addition, through both didactic and hands-on modules, the basics of intervention for diagnosis, core biopsy pathology, and the use of intra-operative ultrasound will be covered. The faculty will share their personal experiences with integrating breast ultrasound into a surgical practice. Though recommended for the novice, this course will also function as a thorough review for those individuals who are already utilizing breast ultrasound and are preparing for certification and examination.

Breast Imaging & Intervention: Beyond the Basics and Preparing for Certification

This updated and expanded course is intended for participants with experience in breast ultrasound and/or stereotactic biopsy who want to improve their skills in breast imaging and intervention, and who may have an interest in applying for the Society’s breast ultrasound and/or stereotactic breast procedures certification. CME credits from this course can be applied toward the continuing medical education requirements of both the stereotactic breast procedures certification and breast ultrasound certification programs.

Course Prerequisite: To ensure that participants will be able to make optimal use of this course, registrants must have prior training and experience in breast ultrasound and/or stereotactic breast biopsy. Registrants must submit proof of prior training and experience in breast ultrasound and/or stereotactic breast biopsy. Please email CME certificate(s) or a brief outline of your experience to meetings@breastsurgeons.org when registering.
