South Florida: Seeking Fellowship Trained Surgeon to Start ASAP

Join a successful group of multidisciplinary surgical specialists in forming a new Breast Center in South Florida. Located in a community with a high incidence of breast cancer, there is a tremendous opportunity for the development and growth.

Position requires a medical degree. Successful completion of a Surgical Oncology or SSO Certified Breast Fellowship required. Must be board certified in general surgery and have a full, unrestricted license to practice in the state of Florida. The successful candidate will be energetic, entrepreneurial and ready to lead the breast diagnostic and treatment team. The surgeon will work in a multi-disciplinary fashion along with radiology, pathology, plastics, medical oncology and radiation oncology.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working with public interest groups as well as clinically interested in care and follow-up of patients with high risk and benign breast disease. The entire infrastructure is in place to expand into a Breast Surgery Center.

This will be a salaried position leading to early partnership and the opportunity to truly control your work environment and share in significant ancillary service revenue.

IMMEDIATE SECOND 2009-2010 YALE INTERDISCIPLINARY BREAST SURGERY FELLOWSHIP OPENING

The Yale Department of Surgery, Section of Surgical Oncology, is pleased to announce a second interdisciplinary breast surgery fellowship position for a BC/BE general surgeon with an interest in benign and malignant breast disease effective immediately (July 1, 2009). The fellowship is a one-year clinical fellowship that seeks to train surgeons in the interdisciplinary approach to breast disease and improve quality of care for breast cancer patients. Trainees rotate on the breast surgery service, medical oncology, radiation oncology, breast imaging, pathology, plastic surgery and genetics. Trainees will gain skills in sentinel node biopsy, skin sparing mastectomy, oncoplastic surgical procedures, ultrasound guided core biopsy, central duct excision, breast biopsy techniques and axillary dissection. Didactic sessions include monthly breast clinical seminars, breast pathology conference, cancer center grand rounds, and surgical oncology teaching conference.

Breast Center Director - East Carolina University

East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate to assume leadership of and expand its established breast program. East Carolina University provides tertiary, state-of-the-art academic-based health services to the 1.5 million citizens across Eastern North Carolina. The current breast program averages 400 breast cases a year. Services are provided at the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center, an ACS COC certified facility. The center is academically prolific with a record of peer-reviewed extramural funding for both clinical and correlative basic science research.

The successful candidate will assist with the planning stage of a new 20,000 square foot off-site, state-of-the-art comprehensive breast wellness facility. The ideal candidate would be recruited to the rank of associate or full professor. Leadership experience in an established program and a progressive vision for growth and development of the program are preferred. Attractive compensation and full state benefits apply. Full support structure in place including two breast medical oncologist , four mammographers, a basic scientist with interest in breast research, lab space, lab techs, and a clinical trials office. State-of-the-art Radiation Oncology facilities house both a Gamma Knife and a Cyber Knife. No general surgery responsibility.
