Call for Abstracts
Dear Colleagues:
Welcome to the American Society of Breast Surgeons 2009 Call for Abstracts!
The scientific portion of our annual meeting plays a vital role in helping the Society further its mission to promote research and improve standards of practice in the treatment of breast disease. All abstracts for the 2010 Annual Meeting must be submitted online. We hope that you find this procedure easy!
Abstracts may be submitted from June 1 to November 2, 2009. Accepted abstracts will be presented at the American Society of Breast Surgeons 11th Annual Meeting, April 28 - May 2, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV.
All authors with abstracts accepted as oral presentations will be required to provide the Society with a manuscript suitable for publication. Your manuscript is your ticket to the podium and must be submitted prior to your presentation.
The top poster presenters will be invited to participate in a discussion forum during the meeting and all poster presenters will be invited to submit a manuscript for possible publication.
Special Awards for Breast Fellows and Residents
Abstracts submitted by a breast fellow or resident are eligible for two awards: the George Peters Award for the Best Paper by a Breast Fellow and the Outstanding Scientific Presentation Award for the Best Paper by a Resident or a Fellow. The awards are based on content as well as presentation. The George Peters Award winner receives a $1,000 and the Outstanding Scientific Presentation Award winner receives a $500 award. The awards are supported by The American Society of Breast Surgeons Foundation.
The George Peters Award was established by the Society to honor Dr. George N. Peters, who was instrumental in bringing together the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, The American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Disease, and the Society of Surgical Oncology to develop educational objectives for breast fellowships. The educational objectives were first used to award Komen Interdisciplinary Breast Fellowships. Subsequently the curriculum was used for the breast fellowship credentialing process that has led to the development of a nationwide matching program for breast fellowships.
Thank you for taking time to submit your abstract! We look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas!
Sincerely,
Sheldon Marc Feldman, MD
