Dr. Walton Taylor Installed as the Society's 22nd President

Walton Taylor, MD, FACS, of Dallas began his term as the Society's President on May 4. The official transition of leadership from Dr. Steven Chen to Dr. Taylor took place at the business meeting held in conjunction with the Society's 19th Annual Meeting in Orlando.

Prior to becoming President, Dr. Taylor served as the Society's Secretary/Treasurer. He also previously chaired the Society's Continuing Medical Education Committee. Under his leadership, that committee was responsible for the Society's successful application to the American Council for Continuing Medical Education, resulting in its designation as an accredited continuing medical education provider and, in 2013, earning the honor of accreditation with commendation. Dr. Taylor also chaired the development and implementation of the Society's Breast Education and Self-Assessment Program, which was designed to help surgeons obtain the self-assessment credits necessary to fulfill the requirements for the American Board of Surgery's Maintenance of Certification part 2. Previously Dr. Taylor, who joined the Society in 2002, served on the Society's Coding and Reimbursement Committee.

Dr. Taylor is a practicing surgeon in Dallas, TX. He graduated from Vanderbilt University, after which he attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He completed his residency at UT Southwestern and affiliate hospitals. Dr. Taylor has been voted one of the "Best Doctors in Dallas" annually since 2010.
