Designed for current breast surgical oncology fellows, this complimentary comprehensive program, held January 15–16, 2027, at the Cincinnati Marriott Northeast in Cincinnati, Ohio, combines self-paced online learning with immersive, hands-on training in Breast Imaging, Oncoplastics, Axillary Surgery, and—new for 2027—Beyond the Scalpel: Robotics, Endoscopic, and Cryoablation Techniques. This program provides a strong foundation through expert instruction, hands-on practice, and interactive discussion.
ASBrS is pleased to provide complimentary registration, hotel accommodations, and travel, allowing fellows to focus on learning, networking, and hands-on skill development throughout this two-day, non-CME educational experience. ASBrS will provide fellows complimentary registration, including meals, onsite course transportation, up to 3 hotel nights, and reimbursement of eligible travel expenses up to $500. Please review all details below.
Pre-recorded Lectures
Attendees receive access to self-paced lectures before the summit, allowing the in-person experience to focus on hands-on learning. Topics include axillary surgery, oncoplastic techniques, ultrasound physics, breast scanning techniques, lesion interpretation, and insights into the Fellows Imaging Certification Track. Participants retain access to the lectures for 3 years following the course.
Hands-On Learning Experience
Interactive hands-on sessions provide practical experience in:
- Breast Imaging: Diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, core biopsy, pathology correlation, intraoperative ultrasound, and upright and prone stereotactic breast biopsy techniques at Mammotome's Imaging Workshop Facility.
- Oncoplastic & Axillary Surgery: Skin markings, cavity closure with glandular displacement, aesthetic scar placement, crescent mastopexy, inframammary fold crescent, donut therapeutic mastopexy, and other foundational techniques using Breast Surgery Simulators.
Panel Discussions
Interactive faculty-led panel discussions provide additional insight into pathology, the fellowship experience, career development, contract negotiations, financial and practical takeaways to help fellows transition these skills into clinical practice.
New for 2027
Beyond the Scalpel: Robotics, Endoscopic, and Cryoablation Techniques explores current evidence, patient selection, risks and benefits, procedural techniques, consensus recommendations, and considerations for incorporating these evolving approaches into practice.
