Certifications for Fellows
Access is limited to fellows in approved breast fellowship programs.

The American Society of Breast Surgeons has developed exclusive certification tracks specifically for breast fellows, positioning fellows to integrate essential imaging skills into practice both during their fellowship and afterward. These certification programs are based on the principles outlined in the Society's Performance and Practice Guidelines for Breast Ultrasound and Stereotactic Breast Procedures respectively.
Each track is divided into 3 distinct parts: an initial candidate certification is awarded for 3 years, followed by an opportunity to earn full certification for 5 years, and a maintenance of certification process to remain current.

- Review of the Fellows Imaging Course or other Introductory Breast Ultrasound Course Material is recommended.

- 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ in breast ultrasound
- Must include 1 all-day course with hands-on portion. Note: the ASBrS Breast Fellows Ultrasound Course (non‑CME) is accepted to meet part of this requirement.

- Full Certification Application Access Fee — $50
- Full Certification Application Review Fee — $275
After earning full certification, you may upkeep your certification by engaging in a maintenence of certification (MOC) process every 5 years.
Breast Ultrasound MOC Requirements
- Medical Licensure
- Equipment Maintenance Reports
- Documented performance of no fewer than 50 breast ultrasound exams per year with review of a minimum of 50 mammography exams annually that include the authenticated reports. These must include a minimum of 30 diagnostic and 20 interventional examinations.

Clinical Case Submission
- 1 Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
- Must Be Cancer or Atypia
- 2D or 3D Technology
- Performed Within 12 Months of Submission
Practical Examination
- Virtual Practicum Within 12 Months of Clinical Case Completion
