The American Society of Breast Surgeons' Breast Education and Self-Assessment Program (BESAP II) is a web-based CME learning tool for physicians who treat breast disease. BESAP II is designed by the Society to help surgeons obtain the self-assessment credits necessary to fulfill the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification Program.
The program helps participating physicians ensure a mastery of critical content for the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. The program also provides a significant fund of knowledge that can be used in breast fellowship programs.
BESAP II consists of more than 400 multiple-choice questions, all of which include critiques with evidence-based explanations for the answers and supporting references from current literature. Sixteen major content areas related to breast surgery have been included:
- Risk Assessment
- Core Measures
- Clinical Trials
- Radiation Therapy
- Ethics, Professionalism, Medical/Legal
- Mammogram and Ultrasound
- Cancer Management
- Anesthesia/Pain Management
- Advanced Imaging
- Palliative Care
- Benign Disease
- Medical Oncology
Users will have the opportunity to complete “practice tests” as part of the program’s learning mode, preparing them for successful completion of the program after which they can claim credit.
BESAP II is the premier educational resource for surgeons who want to assess and maintain their clinical knowledge in the area of breast disease.
Upon successful completion of BESAP II, you will earn 65 CME credits that count towards MOC Part 2.
BESAP II expires July 2020.
