Privacy Policy

Effective April 6, 2009

This is THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS Internet Privacy Policy.

The American Society of Breast Surgeons is committed to protecting your privacy and will collect no personal information from you unless you choose to provide that information. At all times, however, THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS reserves the right to disclose information where required by law or to comply with valid legal process (such as a search warrant, subpoena or court order), to protect THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS' rights or property.

If you register for a Society event online, we collect personal information required to support registration, including names, addresses, and email addresses. When existing demographic information in our database is incorrect or incomplete, that information will be updated. The Society only shares your personal information when necessary to complete your order (e.g., your credit card and billing information is shared with our bank for authorization.)

THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS collects information from its members (including names, addresses, business phone numbers, business fax numbers, and email addresses) for inclusion in a membership directory that is posted on the Members' Only section of the website available only to THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS' members. We will provide names and addresses to public inquiries concerning finding a surgeon. Members may opt-out of either service by contacting the Society office.

The Society sends emails to let you know about changes to its Web site and communicate with you about issues that matter to the profession of breast surgery, but we do not sell email addresses to third parties. To generate non-dues income, The American Society of Breast Surgeons, like most associations, does sell address information to select organizations. You may opt out of the email contact or address label sales by notifying the Society by using the contact form found on this website.

We use state-of-the-art technology to keep any information you provide as secure as possible. We also have in place privacy protection control contractual obligations with our vendors designed to ensure that personal data is protected from unauthorized access or disclosure. All THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS employees must abide by THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS's Privacy Policy. Only authorized employees are permitted to have access to personally-identifiable data about website visitors, and that access is limited to what is reasonably needed to perform an employee's responsibilities, such as providing updates or notices or customer service. Employees who violate our privacy policies are subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

In the event that anyone should provide THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS with information regarding the content of materials on this site, including but not limited to feedback, data, documents, answers, questions, comments, suggestions, ideas, etc., unless they advise THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS otherwise, such information shall be regarded as non-confidential, and THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS assumes no obligation to protect such information from disclosure. Unless otherwise prohibited, the submission of such information to THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS shall in no way prevent the purchase, publication, or use of similar products, services, plans, and ideas by THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF BREAST SURGEONS for any purpose whatever.
