ASBrS Endorses Bipartisan Medicare Physician Payment Reform Legislation
The American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) is proud to endorse the bipartisan Provider Reimbursement Stability Act, newly introduced in the U.S. Senate to strengthen the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and provide greater stability and predictability in physician reimbursement.
The legislation includes long-overdue reforms to modernize Medicare payment policy by updating the outdated budget neutrality threshold, requiring regular updates to practice expense data to better reflect the true cost of delivering care, improving the methodology used for payment adjustments, and limiting annual changes in the Medicare conversion factor to no more than 2.5 percent.
By supporting the Provider Reimbursement Stability Act, ASBrS is advocating for a more sustainable Medicare payment system that enables breast surgeons to continue delivering the specialized, patient-centered care that Medicare beneficiaries depend on today and in the future.
