Experts Meet to Address Future of Breast Surgery

Columbia, Maryland, October 20, 2018 - The American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) assembled a group of society thought leaders, experts in payment and reimbursement, and members of its Industry Relations Council, to strategize a plan to prepare its members for the implementation of current and future changes in therapeutics and technology in breast surgical practice.

Historically, major improvements in surgery, technology and therapeutics in the world of oncology, as well as patient care, have come from bringing together thought leaders in clinical medicine/surgery and the sharing of clinical/operative needs with thought leaders in industry. To this end, the Society hosted its first annual ASBrS 2025 Forum on Breast Surgery, October 20, 2018 in Hanover, Maryland. “The forum was a wonderful opportunity to work with the Society’s industry partners to find ways to create value and innovation in breast cancer care,” says Walton Taylor, MD, ASBrS President.

Breast Surgery 2025 included relevant data, panel discussions, and small group conversations around important topics that will prepare Society members and industry partners for the practice of breast surgery in the future. The group collaborated to define shared goals and strategies for improving breast surgery through education, quality improvement and research.
